Mrs. Helen Behling Weathers -- St. George

Mrs. Helen Behling Weathers, 87, 501 Raysor St., St. George, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, in the Summerville Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m.Thursday, March 18, in the St. George United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wash Belangia and the Rev. Dr. Louis Jamison officiating. Burial will follow in the St.George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald A. Behling, MD, Edward M. Behling, MD, Michael K. Phillips Jr., Cecil J. Marchant Jr., Kevin Weathers and Larry V. Weathers.

Mrs. Weathers was born Oct. 3, 1916, in St. George, a daughter of the late Harry Mellard Behling and Tressa Leila Shieder Behling. She was a 1933 graduate of St.George High School and was a retired bookkeeper for Weathers Piggly Wiggly and Farmers and Merchant Bank. She was a member St. George United Methodist Church where she was a member of Claudia Kizer Sunday School class, Sunshine Club, Missions Day, Annie Rel Brown Circle, and former assistant Sunday School Treasurer. She enjoyed the Wednesday Breakfast Club and was a member and past president of the Little Book Club. She was predeceased by a brother, James Edwin Behling.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Edward Weathers; a daughter, Shirley W. Phillips and her husband Mike; grandchildren, Melissa P. (Chip) Marchant and Michael K. Phillips Jr.; a great-grandson Brody Marchant; a brother, Harry M. ( Jean) Behling, all of St. George; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Paul and Lillian Hutto, St. George; Fred and Mae Weathers, Summerville; Darus and Cathy Weathers, Folly Beach; Evelyn Weathers, Pinopolis and a number of nieces and nephews.
