Alex was just 17 when he collapsed at a North Andover High School track meet. He had just finished running the 400 meter event when he took two breaths and could not get any air - his friend asked him if he was okay, he nodded no and then he fell backward. He was on life support for a week and died after having last rites with a scapular on his chest.

He was a very loving, optimistic, determined and self motivated young man. He was a senior at North Andover High School and the captain of the track team. He won the coaches award for indoor track postumously. Besides being a great athlete, Alex was equally talented in the class room. He was in the top 10% of his class, scored a perfect score on his chemistry and Math SATs and had been accepted to Johns Hopkins University, Carnegie Mellon, Tufts, and the University of Mass-Amherst. Alex planned on pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering.

He worked part time at the Loft Restaurant in North Andover, MA, and he saved enough money to purchase his own car. He was an avid "Guitar Hero" player! His many friends tell us how often he gave of himself - his time and energy -to help and encourage them. He loved his friends and was extemely grateful for their friendship. His huge smile and his distictive laugh will always be remembered.

Alex will always be loved and sorely missed by his mom, Rosanne, his Dad, Richard, sisters, Rachel and Gabrielle, and brothers, Eric, Damon, and Louis.

Alex, we can't wait to see you again, where there is no more sorrow and no more tears, and we will be together with you for eternity!
