Alberta Virginia Armstrong was born in Craigsville, Augusta County, Virginia in 1868, the first-born child of William Armstrong and Cynthia Alberta Hunter Armstrong;

She is the Granddaughter of Archibald Armstrong and Elizabeth "Betsey" McCutcheon Armstrong, both of early pioneering families who had emigrated from Scotland to settle in Virginia, and of William and Ann Hunter of Albemarle County, Virginia;

Alberta is the sister of Hannah Elizabeth Armstrong, who, sadly, only lived 1 year, and of Iva Hannah Armstrong (Mrs. Charles Miller).

In 1881, William and Cynthia Armstrong moved with their two young daughters to Los Angeles County, California, where other Armstrong relatives had already settled.

On January 27, 1898, Alberta Virginia Armstrong married Martin Reid Urton in Los Angeles County, California. He was working as a Teamster and would later own a Grain Farm, eventually becoming Overseer of County Roads when the couple were living in Riverside County.

Albert and Martin became the parents of six children: Katherine Iva Urton (Mrs. William Schlegel), Homer Armstrong Urton, Frank Reed Urton, Albert William Urton (Wife, Nettie Pierce Urton) and Donald M. Urton (Wife, Thelma L. Slaughter Urton).

Alberta passed away on 21 May 1949 in Los Angeles; she is buried beside her husband, Martin, in San Gorgonio Memorial Park in Banning, near where they lived most of their married lives.
