He was the son of the late Edith Drewry Fine who lovingly and successfully, raised her 3 sons as a single parent. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He graduated from Sallisaw High School and went on to receive his BS degree in Business Management from Tulsa University in 1960. He and his wife of 57 years, Jean, married in 1951. Bill is a veteran, having spent 2 years in the U.S. Navy. Bill and Jean had 2 children, Steve and Cindy. Cindy was taken from them in 1974 due to an auto accident. Bill began his career with Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in 1947 as a bill deliverer. He progressed through various accounting positions, became Chief Clerk Gas Purchases and Resources in 1956, Manager-Land and Geological, Manager Land Lease Records, and then in 1981, Bill was elected to Vice President-Land with ONEOK Exploration Company. He retired in 1986 after nearly 40 years of service. Many of his co-workers at ONG and ONEOK remained very close and cherished friends throughout his life. He was a member of the Highland Park Christian Church. Bill was preceded in death by: his daughter Cindy and his brother, Boyce. He is survived by: his wife, Jean; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Pam Fine of Katy, TX; 2 granddaughters, Kristin Fine of Tulsa, and Allison Fine of Edmond, OK; and his brother Paul Fine of Davis, OK. Since his retirement, Bill and Jean spent their years enjoying the company of good friends and traveling extensively through the USA with several trips overseas. Bill's charitable passion has been "Meals on Wheels". After retirement he drove countless miles and delivered thousands of meals for what he believed to be "one of the finest charity organizations". Bill's philosophy and desire in life was to "leave the woodpile stacked a bit higher than he found it". In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made to Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa, 12620 E. 31st St. Tulsa, OK 74146-2307. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Freeman Harris Funeral Home. Private interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
