William H. Ashley, 76, of 69 Main St., died Friday morning, Feb.24, 1967, at 12:45 o'clock. He had been, a patient at the Massena Nursing Home four years.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be made later in Pine Grove Cemetery. The body was at the Donaldson Funeral Homer where many friends called.
Surviving are three sons, Elwood C. Ashley, Canton, Hilton M. Ashley, Winthrop, and Darwin L. Ashley, Massena; two daughters, Mrs. Claire (Wilma) Ginn, Norwood, and Mrs. Stewart (Pauline) Thompson, Massena; 20 grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Helen Lauber, Mrs. Joseph (Sylvia) Premo, Mrs. Frank (Sadie) Simser and Mrs. Francis (Lena) Reams, all of Massena, and Mrs. Mabel Prescott, Syracuse; six brothers, Bernard Ashley. Binghamton, James Ashley, and Roy Ashley, South Carolina, Leo Ashley, Waddington, and Lester Ashley, Syracuse.
Mr. Ashley was born in Massena Nov. 15, 1889, a son of Charles and Catherine Sharlow Ashley. He attended Massena schools and began working at Alcoa in the electrical department in 1911. He was shift foreman in No. 1 remelt when he retired in 1956.
He and Miss Leila E. Price, native of Newington, Ont. were married May 17, 1912, in a ceremony performed in the Massena Methodist Church by the Rev. William English, then pastor. Mrs. Ashley died Jan. 18, 1963, after being in ill hearth several. years.
