John was born to Harry Alfred and Gladys Marie Mitchell Myers. He married Sadie L. Wassell in Canton on Dec. 21, 1946. She preceded him in death on Aug. 19, 2000.

Also preceding him in death were his three sisters and five brothers.

Surviving are his daughters, Lee Ann (Jerry) Ashby and Sue (Jerry) Pheasant; brother, Bob (Kay) Myers; his 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

John served in the Army during World War II.

He worked for Ghlee Watson in Canton for 10 years and United Ready Mix for 16 years as a truck driver, retiring in 1982.
