MARCELLUS - Eugene E. Bainbridge, 80, of 52777 Sheldon Creek Road, Marcellus, MI,
passed away Tuesday morning, November 11, 2008, in Bronson Methodist Hospital,
Kalamazoo, MI, following a two-year illness. He was born on March 15, 1928, near
Sumter, SC, the son of Russell E. and S. Effie (Harrington) Bainbridge. On March 11,
1950, near Marcellus, he married Janette L. Parameter, who survives. He was a
lifelong resident of Marcellus and attended Marcellus schools. He was engaged in
farming all his life. He was a member of the Michigan Pork Producers. He served on the
Production Credit Board of Directors for eight years and served as president for two
years. For 10 years he owned and operated Gene Brainbridge Enterprises. He enjoyed
flying his own airplane, hunting, fishing, and his cabin at Amasa, MI. Surviving besides
his wife are two daughters, Judy (Bill) Hartzell of Lansing, MI, and Christine (Dennis)
Kline of Marcellus; one son, Larry (Shawnee) Bainbridge of Marcellus; six
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sally Nelson of Marcellus,
Martha Johnson of San Diego, CA, and Kay (Dick) Dale of Three Rivers, MI; three
brothers, John Bainbridge of Lawton, MI, James (Mary) Bainbridge of Marcellus and
George Tim Bainbridge of Schoolcraft, MI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He
was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Jack Bainbridge. Funeral services
will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, in the Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus,
with Pastor John D. Messner of the Marcellus and Wakelee United Methodist Churches
officiating. Burial will follow at the Marcellus Cemetery. The family will receive friends
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the
Marcellus Ambulance Service.
