He was the son of William "Bill" Lambert Dixon and Sarah Greathouse. He was their second born child together, the first being a sister.

He married Abbie Lee Nora Mitchell from Perote, Bullock County, Alabama on 01 May 1913 in the Bride's home. They were wed by Minister J. W. Reynolds.

They moved to the Dothan, Alabama area somewhere around 1936. They had 14 children together and 11 of these lived to adulthood.

S.T. was a member of Union Primitive Baptist CHurch in Midland City, Dale County, Alabama.

He died from complications resulting from a stroke he had. He died at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. HIs wife, Abbie died two days before he did after breaking a hip in a fall at home.

Because they died just two days apart, it is felt due to their long marriage and raising such a large family together that they were soulmates and left this earthly world together.
