John Clark Taylor, of Oregon City, was born in Fleming Co., Kentucky, near Flemingsburg, February 24th, 1814. He was married in 1862 to Miss Catherine Robeson, in Iowa. They together were among the pioneers who came to Oregon in 1865. The last eight years he has lived in Oregon City, during which time he has been almost a constant sufferer, but bore all patiently, only waiting for the boatman so soon to come and bear him home. He passed peacefully to his heavenly home at 3 o'clock A. M. June 4th, 1902.

He leaves a wife and seven children; Mr. P. E. Taylor, of Fort Bidwell, California; Mrs. Ed. Harrington, of Highland, Mrs. G. E. Martin, of Whittier, Cal., and Mrs. C. D. Story, Mrs. Frank Welch, Mrs. E. F. Story and Miss Myrtle Taylor, of Oregon City; also seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The funeral was held yesterday at two o'clock from his late residence in Oregon City. The interment was in Mountain View cemetery.
