LAVALE,MARYLAND -- Grabenstein, Edward Ronald "Ron", 71, of LaVale, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 in the Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Washington, DC.

Born January 24, 1933 in Vale Summit, MD he was the son of the late Edward Charles Grabenstein and Lillian Loretta (Neat) Grabenstein.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by brothers Earl C. Grabenstein and John F. Grabenstein and sister Betty Jo Hisa.

Mr. Grabenstein was retired as Supervisor of School Construction for the Allegany County Board of Education, was former Past Vice President of the Allegany County Board of Education, was a member of Ali Ghan Shrine Club as well as Past Potentate, member of Mt. Lodge #99 A.F. & A.M., a Vietnam Veteran serving with the US Army from 1953 to 1973 and coached Cross Country and Track at Allegany High School. He was a dedicated Camper Fan. HE BLED BLUE.

Surviving is his wife Josephine Elizabeth Grabenstein, daughters Linda Susan Pluta and husband Dan of Cumberland and Loretta Ann Terry and husband Jim of Huntington, WV. He was a very family oriented and cherished "the lights of his life" grandchild Tara C. Feller, Rodney J. Feller, Jr., Sarah E. Terry, Emily K. Terry, Molly A. Terry, step grandchildren Robert J. Pluta, Dan A. Pluta II and Ryan W. Pluta and his "little sweetheart" great granddaughter Chloe A. Hinkle. Also surviving is his stepmother Anna V. (Gilford) Grabenstein of Cumberland a brother Richard Raymond Grabenstein and wife Connie of Hughesville, MD and a stepbrother Paul Green of Cumberland. He also has numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Hafer Funeral Service, PA, Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Hwy, LaVale on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Masonic Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday 7:30 PM by the Mt. Lodge #99 A.F. & A.M.

Pallbearers will be Dan Pluta, Jim Terry, Danny Pluta, Wayne Robertson, John Grabenstein, and Rich Grabenstein. Honorary Pallbearers will be Past Potentates of the Ali Ghan Shrine Temple and Dr. Judy Thelen.

Memorial Contributions made be made in his name to the Ali Ghan Shrine Crippled Children Transportation Fund P.O. Box 1416 Cumberland, MD.
