EDNA - Edward J. Krejci, of Edna, was called by the Lord on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at the age 78. He was born on June 3, 1930, in Shiner, to the late Charles and Mary Tech Krejci.
Edward retired from barbering after over 40 years. He served in the Navy and was an active member of his church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a "people person" who had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories and jokes. There was nothing he liked better than talking…sometimes arguing…politics with friends. He liked to cook meals for his family, that were always followed by several games of dominoes, many of which he won!
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jeanette Krejci of Edna; daughter, Kathy Johnson of Edna; son, Mark Krejci of Sugar Land; brothers, Arlen Krejci and wife Daisy of Katy, Charles Krejci and wife Mary of Pasadena; sister-in-law, Laurine Krejci; and grandchildren, T.J. Johnson and Zakary Krejci.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Krejci; granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Krejci; and brothers, Milton and Harvey Krejci.
A celebration of Edward's life will be held with a visitation from 5-7 p.m. today, Nov. 18, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, with a rosary recital preceding at 9:30, in the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Edna. Interment will follow in Red Bluff Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Petering will be officiating.
Pallbearers are T.J. Johnson, Richard Johnson, Jake Meador, John Marek, Albert Andel, and Jack Beasley.
Honorary pallbearers are Tony Gerdes, Alvin Blanar, and the members of Supper Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust Avenue, Victoria, Texas 77901.
