Independent Company, 3rd IA Light Artillery - Enlisted; at the age of 29 on Nov. 5, 1864. Died from inflammation of the lungs.

Married to Emma Galland. son of Medad and Phoebe (Hobart) Thompson. Religion was Mormon and he migrated with his parents from Pennsylvania to Iowa to Michigan and finally Calvin returned to Iowa where he resided and eventually enlisted in the state of Iowa. his wife died one year after Calvin, boys were farmed out to neighboring farmers. Calvin died of disease (pneumonia).
