Jason H. Aylsworth - Enlisted and mustered in on 9 August 1862 at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, Company C, Michigan 3rd Cavalry Regiment as a Private; he was a resident of Brooklyn, Jackson County, Michigan prior to his enlistment at 33 years of age; joined his unit on 15 September 1862 at Corinth, Alcorn County, Mississippi; mustered out on 28 January 1863 dying of wounds in a General Hospital at La Grange, Fayette County, Tennessee.

In the U.S., Registers of Deaths of Volunteers, 1861-1865 his given name is recorded as "Jasper."

In the U.S., Burial Registers, Military Posts and National Cemeteries, 1862-1960 his name is recorded as James H. Ailsworth. Originally interred one-half mile east of La Grange, Tennessee "...near the old college in an open field - and known as the Small Pox burying ground."

He is interred, here, beneath a grave marker under the name of PVT James H. Ainsworth and Missouri incorrectly identified as his state service affiliation.
