Bruce was the son of George Irvin BEARD and Bernice GRIFFITH and the brother of Miles and Max. Like his brothers, Bruce served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Naomi Virginia KIRKLEY on July 2, 1949. Their marriage produced two daughters and two sons. Bruce built his own house in Lakeville, Indiana, and he did building and remodeling on other people's houses. The last house on which he supervised the building was for his 2nd-born daughter and his 1st-born grandchild. He supervised well; he advised well, and when his daughter chose to sell that house after her son was grown, she got top dollar in the middle of the worst housing recession in fifty years. Bruce Beard knew how to build a house.
