Funeral services for Grant Walton, 76, were conducted at the Venus church, Saturday afternoon by the Rev. Charles Phipps. Music and singing were contributed by members of the Strope family of the walnut community.

Grant Walton, son of James and Lydia Ann Walton, was born, November 8, 1868, at Troy Mills, Iowa and died April 4, 1845, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Wheeler.

He was the eldest of four children, three survive him. He lived in Knox county from a small boy until moving to O'Neill about 25 years ago.

He was married to Nina Mae Mead July 25, 1892 at Mars, Nebr. To this union eight children were born. His wife and one daughter preceded him in death.

He is survived by seven children: Sam of Boone, Ia., Adeline Harvey of Royal, Leonard of Orchard, Myrtle Wheeler of Venus, Olive Otteson of Verdigre, Barton of Middlebranch and Cleata Ritts of O'Neill; two brothers, Henry Walton of Ainsworth and Willard Walton of Plainview and one sister, Mrs. Alice Coe of Spokane, Wash., thirty eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was made in the Enterprise Cemetery.
