Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Wayne Spears, age 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005 in the First Baptist Church of Jennings with Rev. Lawrence Baylot officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale.

Funeral home visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2005 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at which time the body will be taken to the First Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held in the Oakdale Cemetery at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005.

Mr. Spears died at 1:20 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005 in St. Patrick's Hospital of Lake Charles.

He was a native of Oakdale and a resident of Jennings for the last 47 years. Mr. Spears was a Navy and Air Force veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church of Jennings and served on various church committees. He was a retired school principal with a B.A. and Master's degree with a Specialist in Education and Administration. He was a member of the Louisiana Principal's Association, Louisiana Retired Teacher's Association, Jeff Davis Retired Teacher's Association and the Louisiana Education Association. He was an officer in the Jeff Davis Retired Teacher's Association and was on the advisory board for the Bank of Southwest.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Fontenot Spears of Jennings; daughter-in-law, Myra Spears of Jennings; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy Lewis and Claudia Jo Spears of Pitkin; two granddaughters, Thea Madison and Molly Claire Spears of Jennings; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Eunice Spears and two sons, Michael Anthony Spears and Kent Stewart Spears.
