He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Jesse and Maude Bussell Jones. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Snyder Jones, who died in 1969 and two sisters, Eunice Beck and Velma Ledford. He retired from Champion International in 1993 with over 40 years of service and was a member of High Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Geraline McCurry Jones; two sons, Danny Jones and his wife, Sheila, of Canton and Eddie McCurry of Candler; four grandchildren, Jessica Jones Smith and her husband, John, of Clyde, Blake Jones, and Cole and Katie McCurry; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Smith.
Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
