Gilbert R. Allgood, 78, of Farmersville, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held Thursday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church ELCA in Farmersville. Burial will be in Rovey Cemetery, Farmersville, with military graveside services conducted by the Virden American Legion. The Rev. Dr. Ken Tegtmeier will officiate.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon or from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Mr. Allgood was born April 21, 1928, at Springfield, son of the late Louis and Mary (Tomko) Allgood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was employed by Freeman Coal Co. in Farmersville and retired in 1988. He farmed for Elmore Farms in Farmersville and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church ELCA of Farmersville.
Mr. Allgood married Alvina Ruzes on Aug. 21, 1954, at Farmersville. She died Dec. 14, 2002.
He leaves one son, Roger (wife Mary Lou) Allgood of Waggoner; two daughters, Shirley Allgood of Raymond and Rita (husband Jerry) Saffell of Carlinville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Linda Allgood of Springfield; three brothers, Gerald (wife Virginia) Allgood of Auburn, Elmer (wife Inkie) Allgood of Springfield, and David (wife Dottie) Allgood of Johnson City, TN.
One son, Gene Allgood, has died.
