John Taylor Weber (J.T.) operated the general store in Penryn for several years beginning April, 1911. He also had a tobacco processing establishment behind the store where he made chewing tobacco. His two brands were "Penryn Special chewing Tobacco" and "Everybody's Chewing Tobacco." His tobacco products were distributed in Lancaster, Dauphin, Berks, and Lebanon counties. Mr. Weber taught school for twenty-three years before becoming a general merchant in Penryn. He served as Justice of the Peace for fifty-two years. He was an insurance agent. He was a surveyor for thirty-three years. He was very active at Penryn's St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving as superintendent of Sunday School for forty-nine years. He was secretary of the Penryn Cemetery Board for nineteen years. Mr. Weber was the first president of the Penryn Fire Company, holding that position for twenty-three years. He leased property in back of his store for Penryn's first fire house: a 12' x 16' shed, to house a hand-drawn chemical cart. John and his wife Olivia (Bemesderfer) Weber were parents to nine children. John was a truly remarkable citizen of his time, not to mention his abilities as a multi-tasker and over achiever.

Children of John and Olivia Weber were Vera, Mary, Benjamin, Harvey, Edgar, Ruth, and Bessie, who all lived to maturity. Flora and Walter died as young children.
