Jesse Claude Alexander is the son of William Alexander and Margaret (Copeland) Alexander. He married Laura C. Wolfe on 10 Dec 1872 in Henry Co., GA. They had at least 5 children:

- Oscar Franklin Alexander (22 Feb 1874-24 Feb 1934)
- James Claude Alexander (06 Sep 1876-09 Nov 1911)
- Nancy Lois Alexander (07 Mar 1878-16 Jan 1931)
- Margaret "Mamie" Alexander (02 Apr 1880-19 Oct 1950)
- George Cambell Alexander (03 Apr 1882-01 Feb 1972)

Jesse is shown in the 01 Jun 1880 Census of Spalding Co., GA with Laura and the 4 oldest children. He died in 1881 so children are shown with Laura in later Censuses.

Even though Laura's gravestone shows that she was the wife of J. C. Alexander, Sr.; he would not have been a Sr. because they never had a child that was a Jr. People have just assumed that their son J. Claude Alexander was named after his father; however, his name was actually James Claude Alexander.
