The late Mr. Alsleben was born Sept. 9, 1848, in Barneke, Germany.
He came to America and settled in the township of Penn in 1873. Upon his marriage to Miss Anna Bartz in 1877 they settled on a farm west of this village which was their home until 1916, when they moved here to spend their declining years in ease.
To this happy union six daughters and three sons were born, two dying in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Fred Harbarth, passed away two years ago. Those who survive are Mrs. August Hahn, Mrs. Otto Laabs, of Winthrop, and Mrs. William Laabs, of New Ulm, and Herman, Otto and Emil, of this place.
