William was born in 1808 in Ky. His family removed to Jefferson Co., IN. by 1818 where he spent the rest of his life. William had a twin sister "Mary". He married Elizabeth Cope in 1829. Died at the age of 65.
Monroe Twp is part of what would become Jefferson Proving Ground in 1941 in south east Indiana. Grandson "W.H" son of James Howard, sold land to the government in Jefferson County buy out. (pg. 129)
