George was the son of Richard Young and Clarissa Elizabeth Watson. He had one brother named Henry Warren Young. His first marriage ended abruptly with the death of his young wife Julia M Usher in 1881. At that time George went to live with a Young in New Brittain (probably an uncle). There he met the widow, Harriet Philomena Chagnon Daniels. They were married in Stafford, Ct on 16 Dec 1886.

George and Harriet had six children; one daughter and five sons, in addition to Harriet's daughter Agnes from her first marriage. George's obit reports that he was a teamster who worked for many years at W. G. Keith Hardware and was "considered a man of exceptionally good health" up to a month before his death on Jan 25, 1912, at 12:10 in St. Vincent's Hospital. His son was about to take an electric car from the east village to go to Worcester to visit his father when notified of his father's death.
