Daughter of Hollom Pierce and Lucena Winters. Wife of John Lewis Jones.

Obit: Mrs. John L. Jones
That misfortunes do not come singly has been exemplified in the family of John L. Jones, who in less than a month past has lost his wife, his daughter and grandchild. The first to go was Mrs. Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jones who died January 31. [1908] Mrs. Thompson left a daughter, a child less than four months old and on Saturday, February 15, the little one passed away and was laid to rest in Union cemetery. Bereft of her daughter and grandchild, Mrs. Jones was stricken with sickness which finally ended in pleurisy, resulting fatally at 12:40 a. m. Friday, at the home on Fifth street.

Mrs. Philo L. Jones was born in Menard county and was 57 years, 5 months and 29 days of age. She came to this county when 5 years of age and has lived here since. She is survived by her husband, four brothers and two daughters. The brothers and sisters are Hiram Pierce, Oklahoma; Sherman Pierce, Marion center, Ky,; [KS], Barton Pierce, Kansas City, Mo.; Milo Pierce, New Mexico; Mrs. Amanda Johnson, Colorado and Mrs. R. W. Jones, Lincoln. The funeral will be at 2p.m. Sunday in the Methodist Protestant church, the funeral in charge of Rev. Batterton, of Beardstown. Burial in Union Cemetery.
