Bryson married Susan Hicks at Springfield, Tennessee, 1813. Bryson and Susan were residing in Robertson County, Tennessee according to the 1820 census.We believe Susan's family was located in Robertson.
Of this union, there were 5 living children: Albert Gallatin DOB 1815,Cincinnatus DOB unknown, Leonidas DOB 1823, Susan and youngest, Nancy.
A funny story supported by records reveal Bryson was fined a $1 in 1826 for retailing liquor in Madison county, where the younger children were born. Census records also show his mother, Elizabeth was residing with the family at Robertson county in 1830. Bryson studied law and administered an estate in 1834. Then in January 26, 1837, Davidson county records show a marriage registration between Bryson and Maria Smith(which leads the researcher to conclude Susan may have passed away in Robertson).Later court records show in 1851,Bryson secured a retro-active revolutionary war pension on behalf of his widowed mother; listing only 4 of his 9 siblings from the twice married father James: Robert, William, Catherine(Cowan) and Nancy.Later, Bryson was appointed trustee of the Lewis academy in 1856. Records and family history show Bryson is buried at Mount Olivet, in section 1 (now 3), near the original cemetery building. The DAR ladies found his death record under B.B. Trousdale. His great great grandson, Charles Eastman Trousdale identified the area where his headstone belongs on a visit. Bryson's eldest, Leonidas secured another plot where the decendants are buried. All except Levi, who is with the Perkins at their family plot near Brentwood. Leonidas'entire plots have been transferred to his eldest living decendant, Lillian.
