Recipient of the Iron Cross I. and II. ClassGerman war poet, composer and Prussian officer. On August 29, 1914, he was seriously wounded at Colonfay in the Battle of St. Quentin. Later he was the commander of the Fusilier Battalion in the Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 5. He died as a result of a wound received at Villers-Bretonneux on the Somme (France) on April 24, 1918, in a hospital in Aachen.
