On Monday, September 7, 1923 she married Worth Bagley Daniels, the son of Josephus Daniels, former Secretary of the Navy and Mrs. Daniels. The ceremony was performed at St. David’s Protestant Episcopal Church at Roland Park in Baltimore, Maryland by the Rev. Dr. Arthur B. Kinsolving, rector of the Old St. Paul’s Protestant Episcopal Church. They met during their first year at Johns Hopkins. She was a niece of Lady Leith of Fyvie Castle in Scotland; Mrs. John T. Davis of Portland Place in St. Louis, Missouri and Mrs. Howard Elliott of Philadelphia. She was educated at Mary Institute and received her bachelor of arts degree from Wellesley College. She was a student of medicine at Johns Hopkins University and worked with Dr. Grenfell at his hospital in Labrador in Canada.

Josephine January Daniels was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Wellesley College and received a medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1924. In 1927, she moved to the District of Columbia. In the early 1930s, she was school physician at the Town and Country School in the District. In 1980, she moved to Chapel Hill. She died at age 92 on June 12, 1990 at her home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, after a stroke. She was predeceased by her husband, Worth Bagley Daniels, also a physician in the District and an owner of the Raleigh News and Observer newspaper, who died in 1978. Survivors included two sons, Worth B. Daniels Jr. (1925-2009) of Baltimore, who was chairman of the board of the Raleigh News and Observer and Derick J. Daniels (1927-2005) of San Francisco and four grandchildren.
