Danielle McCarthy, was a normal full of life very outgoing 16 year old girl. She was born July 18, 1990 in Ventura, California to Patrick and Lisa McCarthy. She was one of seven along with two sisters and four brothers. She lived in Puyallup, Washington and was a Junior at RHS. The two things Danielle adored the most were her family and her many friends. She was very strongly against drugs and smoking, etc. She was never the type of person who caused drama, or said rude things behind people's back; she was a very true friend. Danielle was a very real person, she never tried to be someone she was; not she was just simply Danielle. She always had a good perception on life. Her favorite color was pink. Her favorite flower was Pink Carnations. She loved shopping and wearing Hollister brand clothes. Camping was one of her favorite things to do with family or with friends. She knew sign language and was very good at it. She wanted to attend College at Washington State University and study Dermatology and become a Dermatologist.
On December 31, 2006 Danielle went out with a group of so called "friends" for New Years Eve and on January 1, 2007 she was left dead after having an overdose on Ecstasy.
Danielle, showed signs of an overdose for hours, she was vomiting violently, became unable to walk, lost consciousness, and went into a seizure of five minutes. Her "friends" did nothing at all, no one seemed to care. When others would ask what was wrong with Danielle her "friend" Dona told people to "Shut up, and that nothing is wrong with her, and to get away". Around 6:30 a.m., she was unresponsive and "everyone began to panic then, but not earlier". Those at the house placed her in a warm bath for about 15 minutes, to hope to revive Danielle. A man David, and the girl Dona charged in the crime wrapped Danielle in towels and a comforter loaded her into a vehicle and drove to Stevens Memorial Hospital in Edmonds Washington around 9:45 a.m. After she was found un-responsive. Later on then pronounced dead.
Cause of Danielle's death was a Ecstasy Overdose. David Morris and the girl Dona were both charged in the crime with Controlled Substance Homicide. Dona was also charged with Manslaughter 1.
David made a guilty plea on November 30, 2007; and he was sentenced on June 4, 2008. He acquired 30 months in prison along with, 30 months of a drug rehab program. The court trial for Dona began on June 6, 2008 where people that were with Dona Huertas and Danielle McCarthy testified against Dona. On June 19, 2008 Dona was found guilty of Controlled Substance Homicide and Second Degree Manslaughter in the overdose death of Danielle McCarthy. On August 13, 2008 it was told that Dona will be sentenced as a juvenile. She was sentenced, and acquired two years in a juvenile center.
Danielle touched many people's life's in her short life time and still touches many peoples life's today. She had a very dazzling future, and none of this should have happened to Danielle. Because of the very poor actions of the people she was with on that New Year's Eve, Danielle will never get to live the rest of her life and Danielle's family has to live with this nightmare for the rest of their life's when one simple phone call to 911 could have saved Danielle's life. Now she will be forever an angel 16 years old in heaven with God. She will never be forgotten. People say only the best die young, if that is true Danielle is proof of that! We all know you are smiling down from heaven right now looking down on everyone that you love. Rest in peace Danielle!
