Anna Maria Horsch was born on March 12, 1845 in Mertesdorf, Trier-Saarburg, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany. She was the daughter of Michael Horsch and Susanna Blaeser. Anna had four sisters; Barbara, Maria, or Mary, Angeline, or Angela, and Margaretha, or Margaret. They all came to this country with their father, Michael, in 1873. They departed from Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland and arrived in New York on November 12, 1873. She met Jacob Longen and they got married on June 30, 1874 in Cook county, Illinois. They moved to Springfield, Illinois and had four children; Nicholas Jacob, Mary Ann, Anna M., and Susan Margaret Longen. Anna M. died as an infant at less than five months old. Anna Maria was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Anna died on July 11, 1909 in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Springfield.
