d 9-4-1864 Helena Ark, while serving in the 47th Iowa Infantry ,Co BAccording to a family story written by Bessie Adamson-Felkner from a family ancestry book compiled in 1955-1957 by Bessie and other family members, Tommy ran away at home and became a drummer in the Civil War at age 14.

The actual story is:

Enlisted as a Private on 5 May 1864 at the age of 18. Enlisted in Company B, 47th Infantry Regiment Iowa on 4 Jun 1864. Died Company B, 47th Infantry Regiment Iowa on 5 Sep 1864 at Helena, AR.

The cemetery intake form specifically says "Musgrove", but the stone engraver apparently made a mistake. The number on the stone corresponds to Benjamin T Musgrove's form - A 2225.

He served under Under General Steele and died during in the September Campaign to capture Little Rock, AR. I have not been able to independently verify the cause so he might have died from disease or a bullet. Bessie Adamson-Felkner's story mentions he died of measles.

Originally buried near Helena AR, but likely moved when they consolidated the dead and moved them to National Cemeteries in the 1880's to protect the graves.
