R. D. Wells Sr., 74, died Tuesday following a brief illness.
He was a native of Hastings. He was a member of Cathedral Basilica and Hastings
High School Alumni Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired
from the Florida National Guard. He was a retired mechanic from Jacksonville
Naval Air Station.
He is survived by daughters, Janet Marie Davis of DeFuniak Springs, Susan Wells
Hughes of Ft. Walton Beach; sons, Raphael D. Wells Jr, of Sanford, William W.
Wells and Gene F. Wells, both of St. Augustine; Terrance Wells of Nashville,
Tenn; sisters, Genevieve Davis of Orlando, Helen Belcher of St. Augustine;
brothers, W. D. Wells and R. L. Wells, both of St. Augustine; 21 grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church
with Rev. Father Neal Carr, officiating. burial will follow in Sampson
Cemetery.
