Daniel Francis Krumel, age 72, died Dec. 24, 2006, at home after an extended cardiac illness.

Daniel was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Manitowoc.

In his youth, Daniel worked on a farm, delivered newspapers, spotted pins at the local bowling alley and sold shoes. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952 and the University of Wisconsin in 1960. Daniel served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was employed by the City of Pensacola in 1960. In 1964, Daniel was appointed Executive Director of the West Florida Regional Planning Council, a position he held until his retirement in June 2001. Daniel was active in numerous civic and charitable organizations and was a past Governor of the Alabama-West Florida District Civitans International Organization.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 51 years: Vivian; three daughters: Danette (Forrest), Dianne, and Debbie (Brian); three sons: Dennis (Paulette), Doug (Kathy) and Derek (Beth). He is also survived by three brothers: Wayne Krumel of Pensacola, Gary (Joan) Krumel of Manitowoc; and Richard (Maureen) Krumel of Manitowoc; and sister: LaVange Wilda of Pensacola. Other survivors include grandchildren: Mollie Malone Ergle, Paul Malone III, Caitlin Malone, Brandon DuFour, Brandi Krumel Sommers, Hollie Krumel, Thomas Rangle, Kalie Krumel, Jennifer, Amy and Joey Krumel; and great- grandson: Kodey Sommers; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at 5:45 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church at 3131 Hyde Park Road, Pensacola, Fla.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday (TODAY), Dec. 28, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Everyone is invited to lunch at St. Paul's Church in the Geri Room immediately following the funeral Mass.

Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gordon Towne, Robert Radcliff, Robert Joseph, Peter DeVries, P.J. Jones and Homer Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Touart, Sherrod Scott, Ray Heindl and Harvey Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Building Fund/Organ Fund at 3131 Hyde Park Road, Pensacola, FL 32503 and the American Cancer Society at 5401 Corporate Woods Drive, Pensacola, FL 32504.
