EASTMAN --- Services for Robert Hess Abney will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Southside Baptist Church in Cochran with burial in Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bleckley County. Abney, 69, died Friday, Feb. 22, 1999. Born in Bleckley County, he was the son of the late William and Fanny Abney. The widower of Hilda Abney, he was formerly employed at Bibb Mill in Macon and at Opelika Manufacturing in Hawkinsville. He was a member of Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Judy Cummins of Decatur, Ala.; brother and sisters, James Abney and Ellie Hazzard, both of Cochran, Mary Mullis and Faye Roland, both of Eastman; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mathis Funeral Home, Cochran, and may be contacted at the residence of Ellie Hazzard, Trail Branch Road, Cochran.
