John J. Ward, 61, of Maroa died 10:30 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 14, 1977) in his home.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Maroa, with visitation after 5:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery.
Mr. Ward was born in Maroa, son of John Oliver and Minnie Ward. He was Maroa Fire Department Chief, a World War II veteran, Caterpillar Tractor Co. employee, past master of Masonic Lodge 454, a first aid instructor and a member of the Maroa Christian Church, and the American Red Cross. He married Rosalie Perry in 1940.
Surviving are his wife; son, Steve of Columbus, OH.; brothers, Walter of Wood River; Claude of Greenfield, TN.; sister, Lillie Ward of Maroa.
Two sisters preceded him in death.
