Mrs. Effie Alexander Dies; Services Friday
Mrs. Effie Alexander, 80, a lifelong resident of Marion and near Marion, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
Effie Isadore Alexander, the daughter of Solomon and Margaret Burns, was born May 27, 1867 at Marion. She was married to William R. Alexander at Marion, Dec. 30, 1890. Mr. Alexander died October 20, 1943. She was a member of the Marion Baptist church.
Survivors include nine children, Mrs. Clara Baumgartner, Phillip Alexander, Cedar Rapids; Glenn Alexander, Redwood City, Calif.; William Alexander, San Juan, Texas; Donald Alexander, Philadelphia, Pa.; Harold Alexander, Pasadena, Texas; Mrs. Fren [sic] Lavie, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Margaret Seeks and Richard Alexander, Marion, a brother and a sister, George Burns and Mrs. Nancy Ellen Bunting, both of Marion, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Three children, Mrs. Calista White, James and George; four brothers and five sister preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Baptist church with Rev. Charles Moore officiating. William Dykhuizen will be soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Edna Lagerquist, organist. Pallbearers are nephews, Neal Bunting, Merle Knight, Carl Kassler, Clifford, Robert and Charles D. Burns. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
