BENFER--HH BENFER IS DEAD: Well Known Man Here Came Back From Idaho on Visit and Died in Old Home: Hiawatha friends of HH Benfer were shocked this Thursday morning when it was announced that he had died suddenly at the home of his son Earl Benfer, three miles from Leona. Mr Benfer had eaten his breakfast and apparently was in his usual health when the end came and without a moment's warning. Miss Hazel Hicks, his granddaughter who accompanied him here from Weiser, Idaho, a few weeks ago on a visit to the old home, arrived in Leona this morning from a visit in Kansas City and went to the earl Benfer home. She had been in the house only a few minutes when her grandfather was stricken. Heart disease was the cause. He was about 75 years old. HH Benfer was a fine type of manhood and one who counted his friends by the hundreds and was loved and respected by many. Soon after the death of his wife in 1911, Mr Benfer removed to Weiser where he lived with his son and daughter, Mrs Ollie Hicks. For almost 46 years he lived on the farm near Leona where he died. Harley Benfer, another son, lives at Weiser and a brother Zack Benfer resides in Kansas City. Mrs Nepp, a sister, lives at Lees Summit, Mo. Funeral arrangement have not been announce but burial will be made in Mount Hope cemetery, by the side of the decedent's wife. (Sep 20, 1917, Brown County [Kansas}World)
