Arlene M. Brouillette, 82, of Sioux City died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Mrs. Brouillette was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Onaka, S.D., the daughter of William and Eva (Kaiser) Speck. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1943. After high school, she was employed at Neisners and Younkers Department Stores in Sioux City.

She married Freeman T. Brouillette on Feb. 18, 1946, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2004, in Omaha. Her most important job was being a housewife and wonderful stay-at-home mom.

In her free time, she loved playing solitaire on the computer, putting puzzles together, playing Scrabble and other board games. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and baking, but most of all spending time with her family and most of all her grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Tom and Helen Brouillette of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Mary Beth and Fred Mersch; brothers, Richard and Jerald Speck and his wife, Wanda, all of Sioux City; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Hanson, Amanda Hanson, Patrick Brouillette, Cory Hanson and Christopher Brouillette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Dorothy and Lorena; and a brother, LeRoy.
