He was born March 30, 1922, in Clinton, Ill., to Maon and Jessie (Burk) Miller. He married Ellen Marie Bradshaw on Jan. 7, 1948.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wilbur Miller.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen Miller of Peoria; and six children, Carol (Tom) Goodwin of Manito, Robert E. (Marge) Miller of La Grange, Ill., Christine Thompson of Peoria, Charlene (Tom) Foster of Chillicothe, Russell (Brenda) Miller of Peoria and Constance (Doug) Kern of Tremont. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Bob served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, until being honorably discharged in 1945.
He then worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 27 years, before retiring as a senior design engineer in 1982, with 12 patents to his credit.
He was a member of the Pekin R.C. Club, vice-president of the Peoria Micro-Midget Club and a member of the Dayton Avenue Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at the Chapel. The Rev. Sunny Mooney will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
