Oscar Coon Died In Colorado
Oscar Coon, 71, died Tuesday, May 3, in the Swedish Sanitarium at Englewood, Colorado, after a lingering illness. He had been a patient at the sanitarium for fourteen months.
The funeral services were held in Loveland, Colorado, Thursday, conducted by the pastor of the Church of Christ, of which he was a member. Burial was in Loveland Burial Park.
Mr. Coon was born at Bedford, March 2, 1876 [Birth date may be March 2, 1878 based on date of parents' marriage], a son of Mr. and Mrs. John W.[alker] Coon [Helen Cobb]. He was married here and Bedford was the family home for many years. They moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1920, where he was employed with a sugar company. His wife, Mrs. Alice Pearl Coon, died in Loveland in August 1948.
Surviving relatives are one son, Beryl Coon of Loveland; two daughters, Mrs. Vesta Lucas of Englewood, Colo., and Mrs. Myrtle Connor of Sparks, Nevada; one sister, Mrs. Robert Reed of Bedford; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
One son, Norman Coon, lost his life in a submarine accident in World War II.
