Michael was born and raised in Colorado, as a young adult he moved to San Francisco and worked for and retired from American Airlines as a supervisor in the reservations department, one of the advantages to his job was $25 airline tickets to anywhere in the world, so Michael and friends would often jump on a plane and go to Paris for breakfast or lunch, then turn around and return home on the next flight.
Upon retirement Michael moved to his home in South Lake Tahoe, California. Michael was a very dear friend of mine and too so many others!
Michael's twin brother died at birth.
----------
His known siblings are:
Twin Brother, b. 1926 - d. 1926 Colorado
George Wayne Brand, b. 1927 Colorado
Glenn Carey Brand, 1929 - 2008 Colorado
Larry Lee Brand, 1936 Colorado - 2000 Utah
---------
At one time, Michael's father, Michael Sr., owned the "Brand Building" in Aspen, Colorado and he also bought the "Long Ranch" 10 miles up Castle Creek and was developing the Elk Mountain Lodge (which now caters to private parties and weddings) when he met an early death.
Entrepreneur, Michael H. Brand, bought the building in the 1920s. He adapted it for use to serve the growing population of automobile users, a mode of transportation then making its presence felt in the remote mountain town, its population by then a historic low of less than a thousand. As in the Aspen Block, the corner space was converted into a service station. The onetime bank lobbies had the only ceilings high enough for trucks to fit under and shelter them from snowfall. Other spaces were given over to a dealership and repair shop.
