Death seems always unexpected, no matter how frequent the warnings of its approach my be. So, when on Friday night the announcement was made that Mrs. Henry Plaster had passed away, a good many were surprised at the news. The loving husband and son whose chief joy, albeit a melancholy one, for over two years it had been to tenderly minister to her wants, though shocked and deeply grieved, were not surprised to see her go, for not even the partial eye of affection, while constantly watching the loved one, could in this instance fail to note the daily evidences of slow but sure decay of vital powers.
Mary Bradley was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, March 13th, 1838. In 1851 she came to Clark Co. with her father’s family and here in Marshall grew to womanhood. Oct. 24, 1861 she was united in marriage to Henry Plasters. The couple settled in Marshall and this has been their home ever since. Two children were born to them, a boy and a girl. When eight years of age the girl was called to her Father’s house, but the boy, Franz, has grown to manhood, honored and respected by all who know him.
About two years since her health failed, and despite the best of medical skill and the most assiduous care of loved ones she continued to fail,. A year ago last April she was taken much worse and since that the decline was more rapid. Sunday before she died she was out riding. On Tuesday she grew rapidly worse and continued to fail rapidly till the end came as noted above.
The funeral was held at the house Sunday at 3 p.m., Rev. Miller officiating. The remains were buried in the Marshall cemetery.
