Ruth Manges Moomaw, 76, of Roanoke, died Saturday, March 9, 1996, in a Salem hospital. She was born in Botetourt County on March 3, 1920, to Charles and Nellie Sprinkle Manges. She married Thurston Styne Moomaw on April 25, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dr. Charles Frank Manges of Blacksburg and George Manges of California, and one sister, Ressie Manges Meador of Springfield and formerly of Roanoke. Besides her husband, survivors include her two children and their families, T. Michael and wife Jo of Collinsville, and John E. and wife Pattie of Chamblissburg. Also surviving are her sister, Hortense Manges Firebaugh of Roanoke; her adopted daughter, Monika Bjorklund of Montvale; her sister-in-law, Helen Manges of California, and four grandchildren, Mark Moomaw and Amy Moomaw of Roanoke, and Joanna Moomaw and Melanie Moomaw of Chamblissburg. Burial will be private in Haymakertown Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4040 Williamson Road, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Kenneth B. Lane officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
