Edith (Portner) Houston, 86, formerly of 601 Albert Ave, Rockford, died Saturday morning, Feb 11, 1898, in Sterling Care Center. Born August 13, 1902, in Pine Creek Township, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Portner. Lifelong Rockford resident, moving to Sterling Care Center near the of 1988. Married Walter B. Houston in Rockford, Aug. 31, 1935; he died Oct 28, 1974. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include step-son, Alvin Houston, Rockford, sister, Frances Toms, Polo; several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by two sisters and six brothers.

Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Grennan Funeral Home, 202 4th Ave., Sterling, with Rev. Clark Moushon, past of First United Methodist Church, Sterling, officiating.

Burial in Grand Detour Cemetery.
