Mrs. Mary E. Elrod, a daughter of Wilson and Sarah Grimes, was born at Martinsburg, Indiana June 14, 1859, and died September 11, 1916, at Bloomington, Indiana, aged 57 years and two months.

She was married to B. F. Elrod in the year 1889 and lived at Martinsburg , until 1898 when they moved to Bloomington where they lived until her death. Mrs. Elrod is survived by her husband and one son, Herman and one daughter,Mrs.Kenneth Stoute of Bloomington;also three brothers and four sisters, William R. Grimes of El Paso, Texas; Thomas J. Grimes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Isaac O. Grimes of Martinsburg; Mrs. Elizabeth May of Crothersville; Mrs. John R. Elrod; Miss Jamina S. Grimes and Mrs. Ione Martin of Martinsburg.

At the age of fifteen years, she united with the United Brethern Church at Martinsburg, and until her death lived a true, simple Christian life.

The remains were taken, Wednesday to Martinsburg, her old home for burial.
