Per her Death Certificate, Maxine died from respiratory failure due to congestive heart failure and anemia.

THE WASHINGTON TIMES-HERALD (Indiana), May 20, 2008:

Maxine Bateman, 91, of Washington, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Daviess Community Hospital. Born Oct. 9, 1916, she was the daughter of Mel and Clara (Pierce) Horne. A homemaker, she was a member of Central Christian Church.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Charlene Bateman.

Her husband, Charles Bateman, whom she married June 11, 1947, is deceased. One son, Charles Daniel Bateman, and four brothers are also deceased.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Cemetery, with Rev. Dan Hendricks officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being made through Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home.
