Bobby Joe "Mr. B" Bozovich, 51, passed to the loving arms of God on Monday, November 10, 2008, after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 13 at Hinshaw United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Born in Greensboro, N.C., on February 6, 1957, Joe graduated from Ben L. Smith High School in 1975. He received at B.S. in Education from UNCG in 1980. When physical limitations from ALS interfered too greatly with his work, Joe left his teaching position with Guilford County Schools. Joe was affectionately referred to as "Mr. B" by students and parents alike for more than 23 years at Bluford Elementary School.

Mr. B's dedication to his students and their learning was honored in 2007 as Bluford Elementary's Teacher of the Year and as Guilford County Schools' Outstanding Educator of the Year.

Throughout Joe's life he personified dignity. While he fought a courageous battle with strength and determination, those who know him will remember a man of great integrity and character. Joe was passionate about educating children, but also about enjoying life. As a high school student, Joe was on Greensboro's Youth City Council and was an active member of Young Life. As an adult, he was an avid camper for many years and enjoyed a network of friends across the world. Joe had an opportunity to travel to Europe on two occasions; first to visit extended family in Yugoslavia. In March of this year Joe made the trip of a lifetime to visit Paris, France.

Joe is survived by his mother, Betty Brothers Bozovich of Greensboro; a sister, Sandra Bozovich Cox and husband, Ronald of Raleigh; a nephew, Andrew Cox of Raleigh; a nephew, Matt Cox and wife, Nicole and two great nieces, McKenna Cox and London Cox, of Raleigh.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Bozovich, Sr.
