After his wife died, John spent his time living with his children. In 1900 he and his four youngest children are living next to his daughter Josie and family. In 1910 he is living with Josie who is divorced from Harve Smith. I am told that John helped take care of the girls while Josie worked. This also shows John's daughter Elizabeth and her family living in the same home. After Josie re-married to John Isaac Funderburg, , John lived with his granddaughter, Johnnie C (Nabors) and her family.

My Great Aunt Dorothy Funderburg (Mercer) said the two girls, Emma & Martha, died before their teens while the family was traveling from Arkansas to Texas. Emma was 6 in 1880 and Martha "Molly" was 5. John's wife, Martha A. (Landreth) died after May 1887 in Arkansas when her last child was born. John Wesley is widowed by 1900 She also said that John Isaac Funderburg's brother, George helped the Mosier family move from Arkansas to Texas in wagons.
