Funeral services for Myrt McRorey, 92, of Blackwell will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Blackwell First Baptist Church, with Rev. Aubrey Jones and Larry McRorey, Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

McRorey died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Abilene Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Seagoville. She married Bill McRorey Sept. 12, 1934, in Roscoe.

McRorey was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Blackwell. She was a homemaker. She also worked as a cook for Blackwell ISD for over 20 years.

McRorey attended school at several places in Nolan County of which the last two years were at Roscoe. She played basketball and baseball.

She converted and joined church at the age of nine in Roscoe. She was baptized in Blackwell Church in 1936. McRorey sang in the choir many years, and taught Sunday school in junior and adult classes.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Barnes of Blackwell and Billie Nell Eidson of Junction; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, J.B. Lewis of Hawley; and one sister, Juanita Roberts of Fort Worth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill McRorey; one son, Larry McRorey; parents, Noah P. and Ora Lewis; two grandchildren, Amber Deanne Hindman and Kelli Hindman; three sisters, Mildred McRorey, Marie Ammons and Ella Mae Whitworth; and two brothers, Carl Preston Lewis and Ray Lewis.

Pallbearers will be Evan Ren, Chad Holland, Blake Holland, Billy Hindman, Larry McRorey, Jr. and John Tomlinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Blackwell First Baptist Church.
