June believed in giving back to her community, and was especially proud of her work with the Angelina County Medical Auxiliary and the Angelina County Community Concert Association. She served as president of both organizations. June was also a founding member of the Lufkin Service League (now the Junior League of Lufkin) and a charter member of the board of the Angelina County Crimestoppers. In 1981 she was honored in The Lufkin Daily News series "Thy Brother's Keeper" for her service to others.
June was always the life of the party, sparking conversation and engaging to be around. She always made you feel as if you were the only person in the room. Music and traveling were her passions; she spent many happy days with her husband, children and grandchildren in Ireland, savoring its sounds, flavors and spirits.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Len and Phil Medford of Lufkin; son, Robert Kenneth Arnett, Jr. of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Stephanie Arnett of Houston; grandchildren, Amanda and Jamie Galati of Fort Worth, Clayton and Ann Medford of Alexandria, Virginia, Anna Arnett and Jack Arnett, both of Houston; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ninon and Ralph Arnett of Dallas, Lelia and Joe Arnett of College Station and Don Arnett of Houston; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks from the family to Marion Bogany Shores, her friend, and to the caring staff at the Lottie Temple Unit at Pinecrest.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the R.K. Arnett, M.D. and June Holton Arnett Memorial Scholarship at Angelina College, P.O. Box 1768, Lufkin, Texas 75902-1768, or to the charity of your choice.
Following a private graveside service in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, the family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
