She played basketball probably in New Franklin 1926-27 with her future sister-in-law Irene.
Her father worked for the MKT (Katy) Railroad, her mother was a homemaker.
She met Lawrence, fell in love and were married April, 1928.
Lena and Lawerence had 5 children: Herb, Anna May, a stillborn child unnamed, Larry & Laurallee. The children were born in Dearborn, Mi. Most of the children completed school in Dearborn, MI and then Lena and Lawrence moved back to Booneville, MO for Lawrences' health around 1947. They moved back to the Metro Detroit area and purchased a motel, the Tourist's Haven, on Telegraph in Brownstown, MI. They managed the motel until 1950 when the twins finished school at Woodhaven grade school. They sold the motel and moved back to Dearborn where they lived approx. 2 more years.
Lena helped at the family's two gas stations where she did the company's bookkeeping. She also worked at Federal's as a sales clerk.
Lena and Lawerence moved back to Booneville and purchased the Ready Mix Cement Plant that they owned and operated until they retired and moved to the Lebanon, TN area where they built their retirement home on Old Hickory Lake.
During retirement they enjoyed special time with their Grandchildren: Herb & Peg's children-Kerry James, Faye, Lawrence, Nannette. Anna May & Erv's children(Brehm)- Roger, Lori & Carol. Lolly & Jim's children (Willoughby)- Bronce, Mark, Bruce.
Lawrence passed away first in Feb. 1982. Lena passed away in June of 1991.
